Storm is a 2009 drama film directed by Hans-Christian Schmid and starring Kerry Fox and Anamaria Marinca. Hannah Maynard (Kerry Fox) is an international prosecutor of war crimes in the former Yugoslavia who pursues Serbian Commander Goran Duric (Drazen K''hn). Commander Duric is charged with killing innocent civilian Bosnians. In the process of building a case against Commander Duric, Hannah's key witness commits suicide, and without new evidence the massacres will go unpunished. However, during the victim's funeral, Hannah meets his sister Mira Arendt (Anamaria Marinca) who harbors the evidence that she needs to convict Commander Duric. Hannah meets with resistance from political interests who do not want to see the trial go forward. The prevailing ranks want to coverup the incident. The opposition also believes Mira is lying and sends Hannah and a team to Bosnia to uncover the truth. With great risk to her life, Hannah must search for the truth to bring about justice.

Metacritic Score

  • 80

    Los Angeles Times Kevin Thomas

Storm is harrowing, provocative and deeply probing yet quite involving.

  • 70

The New York Times Stephen Holden

For a political thriller, Storm is remarkably restrained. There are no flashbacks to the wars in the Balkans or to the atrocities in the hotel.

  • 50

    Variety Derek Elley

A potentially gripping legal thriller about what happens when Western Europe attempts to solve Central European problems ends up as dull entertainment in Storm.
