Stowaway is a classic Shirley Temple movie and was her final release in 1936. Barbara Steward (Shirley Temple), better known as Ching Ching, is an orphan living in China when she makes the most unlikely acquaintance. While in Shanghai, she meets Tommy Randall (Robert Young), an American playboy who is having trouble communicating with a local merchant. Ching Ching and Tommy immediately become friends after she helps him traverse the language barrier in order to buy a souvenir that he wishes to purchase. As the film progresses, Ching Ching sneaks onto a ship, bound for America, where she plays a part in setting Tommy up into a romance with another passenger, Susan Parker (Alice Faye). The captain of the ship, knowing about Ching Ching, must make a difficult decision whether to let her stay with Tommy and Susan or to return her to an orphanage in China. This film features many musical numbers, such as "Goodnight My Love" and "That's What I Want For Christmas."moreless
