Strange Brew is a 1983 film written by, directed by, and starring Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis. The film follows the adventures of Bob and Doug McKenzie, a pair of Canadian brothers who lose their dad's beer money, and have to find a way to get him some free beer. When the duo put a mouse in a beer bottle to scam the Elsinore Brewing Company, they set in to motion a series of events that unveils the nefarious intensions of Elsinore's Brewmeister Smith. Based on Thomas and Moranis' SCTV characters, the movie opens with an ordinary episode of the fictitious TV Show, the Great White North, and follows the brothers out of the studio for the first time. They decided to do a McKenzie brothers movie after the great success of their album, released only two years before. To this day, Strange Brew remains a classic of Canadian cinema among Canucks and Hosers everywhere.
