Street Fighter is an action film based on the popular series of video games. It was released on December 23, 1994. Street Fighter was written and directed by Steven E. de Souza and starred Jean-Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming Na, Damian Chapa and Raul Julia in his last film role. Street Fighter follows Colonel William F. Guile (Jean Claude-Van Damme) as he leads his army of fighters against his evil adversary, General M. Bison (Raul Julia), who is attempting to create a mutant army of super soldiers to take over the world. The film consists mostly of a series of spectacular fighting set pieces, similar to the video game on which the film is based. Unlike the video game, however, the filmed version of Street Fighter also has several comic interludes. Street Fighter enjoyed a strong performance at the box office, earning almost one hundred million dollars on a budget of only thirty-five million dollars.
