Stroszek is a 1977 film directed by the famous German director Werner Herzog. The character of Stroszek is played by Bruno Schleinstein, a Herzog regular and a non-actor for whom Herzog wrote the film for in just four days. Stroszek is a street singer with a drinking problem who ends up getting beat up by the pimps of Eva, a down and out prostitute he had befriended. Afraid of further retribution Stroszek and Eva flee to America to meet up with Stroszek's strange neighbor Scheitz who is planning to move to Wisconsin. However things don't go any better in Wisconson and the three lost Germans find themselves sinking further and further down into debt, confusion and paranoia. Stroszek begins drinking again, his home gets repossessed and auctioned off leading Scheitz to think it's all part of some vast conspiracy working against them. They plan to stop it by getting back at the bank. However it's closed, so Scheitz and Stroszek rob a barber shop instead. Scheitz ends up arrested and Stroszek ends up unnoticed so he just drives off, leading to one of the most enigmatic and saddeningly stange film endings ever.moreless
