Student Bodies is a 1981 horror comedy from Legend Films, written and directed by Mickey Rose. Students at the local high school are living in fear of "The Breather" (Richard Belzer), a sadistic maniac who taunts his victims over the telephone before murdering them. His nickname is a reference to his habit of breathing noisily through a rubber chicken while telephoning his targets. Virtuous student Tobi (Karen Riter) soon realizes that all the victims were killed while they were having sex. She assumes that she is safe because she is a virgin, and embarks on an independent investigation. Her classmates are dropping like flies, and Tobi must race to unravel the clues before The Breather strikes again. Student Bodies is a lighthearted, tongue-in-cheek film that pokes fun at the "sex means death" horror trope. It is packed with inventive kill scenes; The Breather uses items such as bookends, paper clips and garbage bags to execute his victims. Student Bodies is a cult favorite among fans of vintage horror.moreless
