Stupidity is a thought-provoking 2003 documentary that takes a closer look at the dumbing down of contemporary culture and the deliberate use of it as a recipe for commercial success in politics and entertainment. Using sound bites from various shows such as Jackass and even some antics from former president George W. Bush, filmmaker Albert Nerenberg shows how these examples of "stupidity" have had major implications on popular culture as viewers have become obsessed with acting out in the same ways. Nerenberg argues that these avenues of mass media are being used in the wrong way as it has the capability of becoming a major tool in the education and betterment of society as a whole if used in the right way. To get his point across, the director questions a number of academics, authors and cultural critiques who feel to varying degrees that film, television and other forms of media are damaging the modern mind of the current generation.
