Sudden Manhattan is a 1996 comedy written and directed by Adrienne Shelly that tells the story of Donna (Adrienne Shelly), a troubled and depressed young woman dating Adam (Tim Guinee), a guy who is more interested in reading books than in their relationship. Donna wanders aimlessly in life without a job or any occupation that would give her the opportunity to explore her talents. Just when she feels fed up with her daily routine, she suddenly witnesses a murder outside her apartment. When police officers arrive at the scene, they find no body and no evidence of violence. They blame everything on Donna's imagination. Concerned about her mental health, Donna consults Dominga (Louise Lasser), a gypsy woman capable of predicting the future. Dominga provides her with reassurance that she is not crazy. Donna begins to see murders more frequently and, using the help of Adam, her girlfriend Georgie (Hynden Walch) and a couple other restless friends, she decides to do more research and find answers to these mysterious assassinations.moreless
