Suez stars Tyrone Power and Loretta Young as well as Leon Ames in a supporting role, and is set in both Egypt and France. Suez is a story featuring the events surrounding the building of the Suez Canal in Egypt. Eugenie (Loretta Young) is the mistress of Napoleon Bonaparte, and Ferdinand de Lesseps (Tyrone Power) falls in love with her. He travels from Egypt to France by the orders of his concerned father, and while in France, he becomes struck with the idea to build the Suez Canal. He attempts to raise funding to build the canal, but Bonaparte (Leon Ames) turns down his request. De Lesseps' appeals to Eugenie for help. She agrees to help him only if he works to dissolve the French Assembly, which opens the way for Bonaparte to become Emperor. De Lesseps' father passes away in shock from the betrayal, and Bonaparte withdraws his objections to funding the canal project, which continues on.
