Sukiyaki Western Django is a 2007 Japanese spaghetti Western directed by Takashi Miike. The story chronicles the epic battle between the Genji and Heiki clans a few hundred years after the Genpie War. In the rematch of the century, rumors of legendary treasure draw the Genji, led by Yoshitsune (Yusuke Iseya) and the Heike, led by Kyomori (Koichi Sato), to the small town of Yuta, Nevata. Soon after they arrive, a lone gunman (Hidiea Ito) with superior shooting drifts into town. Searching for an advantage, both clans attempt to win his favor and draw the gunman to their side. The gunman, however, has motives of his own. Lies, betrayal, and the wrath of a wronged prostitute eventually lead to a final show down between the two clans. Quentin Tarantino joins this eclectic mix of Japanese actors in a cameo appearance. Fans of stylistically intense spaghetti Westerns will enjoy this new take on a familiar theme.

Not even a brief appearance by Quentin Tarantino and a ton of references to other movies enlivens the proceedings much.
