Summer of Sam is another acclaimed Ôjoint' in master director Spike Lee's popular canon, which also includes Clockers, She's Gotta Have it, Do The Right Thing, Malcolm X, Inside Man, Get on the Bus, 25th Hour, School Daze, Mo' Better Blues, Jungle Fever, Crooklyn, He Got Game and Bamboozled). Set during a sultry heat wave amidst the summer season of 1977, when the notorious serial killer dubbed the Son of Sam had New York City in a grip of deadly fear, a hairdressing lothario dubbed Vinny (John Leguizamo, Carlito's Way, Land of the Dead, The Pest) has an out of the blue run in with the mass murderer which throws his life into a paranoid tailspin. While the powers that be close in or don't on the psychopath, Vinny spirals into a drainage trap of violence, narcotics and kinky sex. Supporting cast includes Jennifer Esposito (Spin City), Mira Sorvino (Mighty Aphrodite, Mimic) and Adrien Brody (The Piano, King Kong).
