Sunset Grill is a 1993 action thriller about a burnt-out private investigator hunting down his wife's killers. Ryder Hart (Peter Weller) was once a Los Angeles cop, but he inadvertently set up his father-in-law in a sting operation, causing the man to commit suicide. Now dejected, drunk and separated from his wife, Anita (Alexandra Paul), Ryder investigates cheating spouses and other petty cases. Meanwhile, Anita runs the Sunset Grill, a seedy little bar which employs a few Mexican immigrants. The film opens in Tijuana with a blond-haired brute (Pete Koch) pursuing a young Mexican man, Guillermo (Benito Martinez). Guillermo manages to post a letter to Ryder, in care of the Sunset Grill, before being violently murdered. When the same blond madman shows up at the bar, he attacks and murders Anita. The letter, however, makes it to grief-stricken Ryder and provides the first clues in a far-reaching and gruesome crime ring.
