Super Speedway is a live-action documentary from the year 2000 that follows a racing team through the process of planning, building a car, and racing for a season. Paul Newman narrates the entire story, giving voice to the untold stories of racing. There is a lot of footage of speed-track testing, including all of the analysis and accidents that lead to a winning race. There is also a secondary plot as the video team regularly drops in on a rebuilding crew that is restoring one of the first roadsters that Mario Andretti raced. Mario and Michael Andretti themselves appear in the film and describe the thrill of racing. In the final scenes, Michael takes the newly built car to the PPG CART World Series and shows what happens when a car is stretched beyond its limits. For both the racing aficionado and the curious spectator, the film offers a thorough exploration of the world of racing.
