Superfly is crime drama from the early 1970s. Directed by Gordon Parks Jr., the film revolves around the underground world of drug dealers and the mob. Priest (Ron O'Neal) is a successful cocaine dealer who seems to have it made. However, he realizes that there is little future in drug dealing, so he decides to use all of his money to purchase a large quantity of cocaine for one last big sale. The mob, however, has other plans and refuses to sell him such a large quantity. Priest uses his underling Fat Freddie (Charles MacGregor) to find a different source. Unfortunately, the police arrest Freddie and force him to talk. Once the police catch up to Priest, he finds that they are not interested in arresting him, but rather sending him back to the mob as an undercover agent. The movie is best remembered today for its soundtrack of funk and soul music, written and performed by the legendary Curtis Mayfield.moreless
