Supernova is an action & science fiction movie that recounts the story of the Nightingale 229, a medical ship that is called in personally on a mission to rescue workers on a traveling comet that were on a mining expedition. The crew includes a host of unique characters, such as a gregarious captain, A.J. Marley (Robert Forester), who has recently been rehabilitated from a drug addiction. After bringing aboard the seemingly innocent Karl Larson (Peter Facinelli), the crew soon discovers that his intentions are much darker than originally anticipated. He has personally sent a distress beacon to the Nightingale 229 because he is an acquaintance to Kaela Evers (Angela Basset). Karl Larson is in possession of a powerful and dangerous alien device which could be paramount to the survival of the ship as they face an even greater crisis of an impending supernova in one of the nearby stars. The gravitational influence that it exerts on the ship is problematic and they are running out of time to figure out a solution to their predicament.
