Swimming Pool is a 2003 French thriller from director Francois Ozon that stars Charlotte Rampling, Ludivine Sagnier, and Charles Dance in a story about a crime novelist suffering from writer's block who retreats to her publisher's scenic summer home to write in solitude, only to find herself caught up in a real-life crime drama. Rampling plays Sarah Morton, an English author having trouble with her new book. Her publisher (Dance) invites Sarah to make use of his summer home in Southern France, a quiet and peaceful place. Soon after her arrival, however, her publisher's attractive, young daughter shows up to join her. Initially, Julie (Sagnier) is a distraction, a mere nuisance. However, Sarah begins to obsess over the girl's lifestyle'her ceaseless one-night stands, her effortless beauty. As tensions arise between the two women, the quiet summer home turns into a unpredictable and dangerous place.
