Take My Eyes, released in 2003, is an enlightening film that tells the story of a man and woman wrapped up in an abusive relationship. Antonio (Luis Tosar) is a man who is so obsessed with the idea that his wife Pilar (Laia Marull) will leave him, that he abuses her in the hope to demand her loyalty. After growing up with an abusive father and a mother who refused to do anything about it, Pilar has trouble seeing that anything is wrong in her marriage. When she finally does get the courage to leave, she takes her son and gains refuge at her sister Ana's (Candela Pena) house. With a chance for a new life, Pilar begins to pick up the pieces, all the while still struggling with her undying love of Antonio. Viewers will discover the way abuse looks from inside the situation, including the love this woman feels towards a man that can do nothing but harm her. Directed by Iciar Bollain, Take My Eyes is an emotional film that will have you glued to your seat waiting to see what happens next.moreless
