Tales from the Script is the 2009 exploration of the world of screenwriting. It is a documentary that interviews a number of the great storytellers who have brought their tales to audiences through the silver screen. Big names include Shane Black, the author of "Lethal Weapon," Frank Darabont, the author of "The Shawshank Redemption," William Goldman, the author of "The Princess Bride," and John Carpenter, the author of "Halloween." These great writers and others explain their craft and their inspiration. There are hilarious behind-the-scenes moments in which writers wrestle with writer's block and in which they mistakenly produce cinematographic disasters that they thought would be hits. They tell the stories about the moments in which they came up with the movies for which their names are known. Tales from the Script is a fascinating study for both would-be authors and for movie fans, a unique look at this distinct and essential niche.
