Talkin' Dirty After Dark is a 1991 comedy about the behind-the-scenes antics going on at a black Los Angeles comedy club. Stand up comedian, Terry (Martin Lawrence), begins the movie as a local funny man who is in financial trouble due to the fact that he cannot pay his $67 phone bill and is driving a car that only moves in reverse. He is struggling to also make a name for himself at a black comedy club called Dukie's and, in an effort to get more attention at the club, is getting intimate with the owner's wife. Meanwhile, it turns out that the owner, Dukie (John Witherspoon), is up to some games of his own as he is trying to get closer to the star attraction of the club, Aretha (Phyllis Yvonne Stickney). Aretha is a diva only concerned about herself, however, and has a huge intimidating boyfriend who is ready to hurt anyone at a moment's notice. All of these subplots collide over the span of one evening as Terry tries to reach his ultimate goal of getting his $67.
