Tam Lin (AKA "The Devil's Widow"), directed by Roddy McDowell, is a film based on a Robert Burns poem that comes from an old Scottish folk tale. Adapted to modern times, this is the story of a well off, middle-aged woman, Mrs. Cazaret (Ava Gardner), who tries to avoid getting older by maintaining an entourage of young people who stay with her wherever she goes. Cazaret controls her sensual and attractive young minions with money, drugs, decadence, and mysticism. Mrs. Cazaret gets angry when her favorite young man, Tom Lynn (Ian McShane), has an affair with a lovely young girl in town. Things are further complicated when the girl gets pregnant. Tom Lynn escapes, but cannot hide for long, as the jealous Mrs. Cazaret must have her revenge. Past lovers who spurned her died hideous deaths. This is a psychedelic fantasy film with abstract scenes and very unusual camera views which convey a drug induced feeling.
