This is the third installment in a series of films featuring Tambrey "Tammy" Tyree (Sandra Dee), a teenager from a small-town in Mississippi. Tammy is a sweet, polite young woman who has just graduated from high school. She wants to leave her small town and make a difference in the world, so she is preparing to leave for college. The film follows the events she experiences in the big city while attending college. She meets an heiress and quickly realizes she has nothing in common with her, but they both end up learning something from each other. Next, she inspires a painter to paint what he feels and not just what he sees. Her life and simple outlook on things is challenged when she meets a handsome young professor, Tom Freeman (John Gavin). How does college life impact the country girl from Mississippi?
