Tango is a dance film that follows the story of a man trying to get his life back on track through dance. Mario Suarez (Miguel Angel Sola) is a theater director who is depressed after his girlfriend, Laura (Cecilia Narova), leaves him. In attempt to distract himself from his personal problems, Mario puts his energy into his next project, a musical about Tango dance. One day while working on the musical, he meets Elena (Mia Maestro), the beautiful girlfriend of his investor, Angelo (Juan Luis Galiardo). Angelo convinces Mario to let her have an audition, and he is immediately captivated by her. This attraction leads to dire consequences, and Mario is put in a position that could not only affect the success of his play, it could also affect his life. Tango was nominated for the 1998 Best Foreign Film Award at the Academy Awards and won the 1998 Goya Award for Best Sound.
