Taps is a brilliantly directed and intense movie that was nominated for a Golden Globe Award in 1982. General Harlan Bache(George C. Scott) is the Commanding Officer at Bunker Military Academy, a prestigious military academy with the tradition of training young men for military service and college. It recently announced its closure after the Board of Directors sold the property to real-estate developers. The Board of Directors did this to realize substantial profits by selling it to the real estate developers that want to build expensive condominiums in it's place. When Cadet Major Brian Moreland (Timothy Hutton) and his other fellow cadets -- including Alex Dwyer (Sean Penn) and David Shawn (Tom Cruise) -- discover that their trusted leaders have sold them out, they feel deeply betrayed. Outraged at being sold-out, they decide to defend the academy. Armed with military fighting techniques, weapons, and the honor that was drilled into them, they decide to take a stand.
