Tarzan is a classic adventure film from 1958 featuring Edgar Rice Burroughs' famous jungle hero, Tarzan. The movie was originally filmed as three pilot episodes for a proposed television series, but it was instead edited into a theatrical film when the TV project was abandoned. As the film opens, Tarzan (Gordon Scott), Jane (Eve Brent) and Tartu (Rickie Sorenson) are living a peaceful life in the jungle. Their lives are, however, soon disrupted by the sound of a drum message that warns them of predatory hunters in the jungle. Tarzan makes a vow to stop the animal-collecting expedition of the hunters. He frees a baby elephant whose mother has been killed by the hunters and then leads an elephant herd against the hunters after they capture Tartu and Cheeta, the chimp. Tarzan engages in a number of ferocious battles with the hunters and must use all of his skill and ingenuity to try and prevent the evil hunters from destroying the jungle.moreless
