Tim Story

2004
Rating:
PG-13
Taxi takes you on a comedic adventure when a cop without a driver's license teams up with New York's fastest cabbie. Belle Williams (Queen Latifah) is a single mom who dreams of becoming a race car champion, but for now, she will settle on driving her souped-up taxi through the streets of the Big Apple. Police officer Andy Washburn (Jimmy Fallon), however, is completely inept behind the wheel. After a series of unfortunate traffic accidents, Lt. Marta Robbins (Jennifer Esposito) suspends Washburn's license, causing him a bit of humiliation around the precinct station. While demoted to foot-patrol duty, Washburn receives an urgent call about a bank robbery, and he has no choice but to hail a cab. Lucky for him, the driver is Belle who takes him on a crazy ride to the crime scene. The two form an unlikely alliance in a quest to catch the gang of female bank robbers. Taxi is an American remake of a 1998 French film penned by Luc Besson.moreless

A bland, half-finished film that seems to have been conceived as off-peak cable fodder.
