Ten Tiny Love Stories is a 2002 film directed by Rodrigo Garcia. In this movie, Garcia records the monologues of ten different women as they relay stories of influential relationships that they have had with different men. The women approach the camera in a shy, almost hesitant manner, but end up spilling some of the most intimate details about their relationships. Despite the title, the main emotion felt by the women is not always love, but more closely resembles loneliness, boredom, sexual desire, and a simple need for an emotional connection. Each woman presents a different type of relationship, from marriage, to boyfriends, to one night stands. They recount situations such as, an uncomfortable blind date, an awkward meeting with an ex-boyfriend, and an unlikely plane ride with a fiery Cuban. Although fictional, the stories and the straight-forward way of filming give this movie a believable edge. The simple format of the film allows the intriguing tales to take center stage.moreless
