Tender is the Night is a 1962 drama directed by Henry King and based on a novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Nicole (Jennifer Jones) is beautiful but very fragile, spending time in a mental institution in the hopes of recovering her health. What she does not expect is that she will fall in love with her doctor, Dr. Richard Diver (Jason Robards Jr.). Dr. Diver, usually known as Dick, believes that he has cured Nicole. He impulsively marries her and the two head off to a decadent villa in Southern France, where they are surrounded by Dick's friends. Among the guests are Rosemary Hoyt (Jill St. John), a seductive young starlet who befriends Nicole and flirts with Dick at the same time. However, rumors start to fly about the scandalous and strange behavior of the Divers. As the couple struggles to make a happy life for themselves, it seems that everything will unravel around them.
