Tentacles are threatening the economy of Ocean Beach. A prehistoric giant octopus is capturing human swimmers and returning only skeletons picked clean of their flesh. As the summer wears on, the attacks increase in number and threaten to scare away the more than 10,000 tourists who visit the vacation town each summer. Scientists are baffled by the remains found. Even the bone marrow has been sucked out of the bones and they don't know of an animal capable of such devastation. Reporter Ned Turner (John Huston) thinks an underwater construction project may have something to do with the attacks. Trojan Construction, owned by Mr. Whitehead (Henry Fonda), has disturbed the creature's home and the community must find a way to defeat it or risk becoming a ghost town. The 1977 film is an Italian-American horror film directed by Ovidio G. Assonitis released in the wake of the Jaws phenomenon. It was produced by American International Pictures.
