Tenth Avenue Kid is a classic 1937 black-and-white drama directed by Bernard Vorhaus. After Detective Jim 'Silk' Loomis (Bruce Cabot) shoots and kills the notorious criminal Joe Turner (John Wray), who has stolen millions of dollars from a bank truck, he realizes that he has orphaned Joe's 12-year-old son, Tommy Turner (Tommy Ryan). He feels badly about killing the boy's father, so he takes Tommy into his home. As the friendship between Jim and Tommy deepens Joe tries to persuade the innocent boy to turn in the rest of the gang members and tell him the location of the stolen bank money. However, the vicious gang members also want to know the place where Tommy's father hid the loot, and they will stop at nothing to get the information from Tommy. Meanwhile, crack news reporter Susan Holland (Beverly Roberts) follows the bank robbery story and is hot on all their heels.
