The 13th Warrior is a film depicting the story of a Bagdad court poet, Ahmad Ibn Fadlan, who is banished from his mother country in AD 922 for falling in love with the wrong dame. Ibn travels north where he encounters a band of nordic barbarian vikings who nickname him Eban. When an oracle calls upon a non norseman to join the band as their thirteenth warrior, Eban reluctantly is coerced into joining them in their battle against the legendary creatures of the mist known as The Wendol, who are said to consume all living things that stand in their path. Eban gains the respect of his companions through his fast ability to learn their language, his horsemanship, and his ability to write, despite his comparative physical weakness. Though reluctant and doubtful, Eban must battle his internal fears and find the courage to defeat his monsters.
