The 40-Year-Old Virgin (Unrated) is a 2005 comedy film from writer/director Judd Apatow (Knocked Up, Superbad) about Andy Stitzer (Steve Carrell), a nerdy 40-year-old who accidentally reveals to his co-workers David (Paul Rudd), Cal (Seth Rogen), and Jay (Romany Malco) that he's never had sex. They vow to get him devirginized, but their plan runs into some challenges, considering that none of them are exactly experts on love either. After a few encounters with overly horny Beth (Elizabeth Banks), a very drunk woman he meets at a bar (Leslie Mann), and a prostitute who turns out to be a transvestite, Andy is still a virgin, but he has developed friendships with his co-workers. On his own he meets Trish (Catherine Keener), a single mom who he doesn't have to use any of the tips and tricks he's learned on, but instead is able to charm her just by being himself. An interruption of Andy's would-be devirginization by Trish's teenage daughter leads the two to agree to not have sex until their 20th date, and their relationship flourishes. When the time comes, however, the pressure of finally having sex leads to an argument that Andy storms out on, making poor decisions to try to get over the relationship he may have ruined. Andy wonders if it might be better to give up on his first time being special and just have sex with Beth, who he runs into at a bar, but he realizes that Trish is who he really wants to be with, although to do so he will have to tell her the embarrassing truth.
