The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T is a musical from 1953 written by popular children's author Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss). The story follows a young boy, Bart Collins, and the piano lessons he must attend under the guidance of Dr. Terwilliker. Bart fears his mother is being brainwashed by Terwilliker, and soon finds himself in a bizarre musical world that may or may not be real. Hans Conried stars as Terwilliker, and Mary Healy plays Bart's mother. Peter Lind Hayes costars as August Zabladowski, the plumber whom Bart tries to convince of Terwilliker's evil nature. In the aforementioned musical world, Bart and 499 other boys are locked up in the Terwilliker institute and forced to simultaenously play a gigantic piano (the titular 5,000 fingers). Bart must escape with his mother, who is now under Terwilliker's spell, from this surreal world before it's too late. Dr. Seuss was responsible for crafting the lyrics and the films original treatment. However, Seuss was not pleased with the finished product. It has since become a cult classic of sorts. The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T was directed by Roy Rowland, and distributed by Columbia Pictures.moreless
