In this popular horror comic-style movie, set in 1925, the brilliant, horribly disfigured Dr. Phibes seeks revenge on the medical team he believes responsible for the death of his wife during an operation. • TRIVIA (1)

    • There are several signs that this film was heavily edited, with noticeable plot lacunae, awkward transitions, poor story momentum and the unexplained appearance, in a wordless and uncredited role lasting only a few seconds, of as well-known an actor as John Laurie. It is also known that William Hartnell had a featured role in the film (his final screen engagement) and was entirely cut out of it (as was Joanna Lumley, who was not well-known at the time).
