The Adventures of Gallant Bess is a classic western directed by Lew Landers. In it, a wandering farm hand, Ted Daniels (Cameron Mitchell) captures a wild horse. Naming her Gallant Bess, he tames her, trains her and travels with her from place to place. Unfortunately, the owner of a rodeo in which he is riding (James Millican) sets him up to get hurt and then steals Bess while he is incapacitated, also swindling him out of his rodeo prize money. Does Ted pursue his lost horse or does he choose the lovely daughter of the doctor treating him (Audrey Long) instead? The movie should not be confused with the 1946 MGN Production simply called 'Gallant Bess', especially as the two involve the same highly trained animal actor (as herself). The movie was produced by Jerry Briskin and Matthew Rapf, with the latter also writing the screenplay. The production company involved was Crestview Publications.
