The Adventures of Ociee Nash is a 2003 American film directed by Kristen McGary and starring Skyler Day, Mare Winningham, and Keith Carradine. When Ociee Nash (Day), a lively nine-year-old girl, is sent from the backwoods of Mississippi to live with her Aunt Mamie (Winningham) in Asheville, North Carolina, little does she suspect the adventures she will encounter. Ociee has been living with her father on the farm since her mother died, and when he realizes that the farm is not the best place for Ociee to become a lady, he puts her on a train headed North. Ociee is sad to leave the Mississippi, but as soon as the train leaves the station, she encounters Orville and Wilbur Wright, an investigative journalist named Nellie Bly, and President McKinley! This coming of age story captures the excitement of youth while traveling across America. Written by Amy and Kristen McGary, The Adventures of Ociee Nash received moderate reviews from critics.
