The Affairs of Cappy Ricks is a 1937 film about a seasoned sea-captain, Cappy Ricks (Walter Brennon), who comes back from a lengthy voyage to find his home and family have completely changed in his absence. To Cappy's dismay, his home and family have been hi-jacked by his daughter's fiance's mother, Mrs. Peasely (Georgia Caine), whose automated his home with new fangled contraptions; she's also set his company up in cahoots with his yacht company's rival, Waldo Bottomley Sr. Feeling like he is a stranger in his own home where no one takes his orders seriously, he devises a plan with his friend, Bill (Lyle Talbot), to board the family on his yacht so they will be forced to mind his authority. When they discover that the two-day trip he's taken them on is really a two-week journey to the South Seas where they are to work like a crew, the family stages a revolt. Cappy then sets fire to the yacht to scare the family into submission. When all of his plans backfire, the family becomes stranded for real. Find out how Cappy gets out of his predicament in this knee-slapping comedy.moreless
