The Amazing Grace is a 2006 movie that tells the true story John Newton (Nick Moran), a British slave trader who experienced a startling change of heart. John knows that his path in life is not the path he always wanted for himself. He realizes that slavery is brutal and feels he cannot call himself a true Christian while he continues to deal in human lives. Venturing into Nigeria with a changed heart, he resolves to turn his life around and repent for the cruelty of his past. He encounters Ansa (Mbong Amata), a beautiful and kind-hearted woman whose merciful spirit aids John in his spiritual awakening. As John attempts to go against the norm and open his country's eyes to the tragedy that is taking place, he finds himself headed for certain betrayal. However, John also composes a well-beloved hymn, adding his voice to history and spreading a message of acceptance and grace.
