The Badlanders, directed by Delmer Daves, is a 1958 romantic western based on the novel "The Asphalt Jungle" by W.R. Burnett. In the film set in 1898, two gold robbers have just earned their freedom from the Arizona Territorial Prison in Yuma. The men, Peter "Dutchman" Van Hoek (Alan Ladd) and McBain (Ernest Borgnine), both feel they were unjustly imprisoned and that a small gold mining is town to blame for their conviction. McBain has no interest in seeking revenge, he just wants to move on with his life. The Dutchman, however, is bent on seeking revenge, and he has a plan to get it and a big score. The plan would be easier with two thieves, but the Dutchman is having a hard time convincing his ex-partner to help him out. Will the Dutchman convince McBain to join him, or will McBain stick to his guns and steer clear of thievery?
