The Base is a 1999 action film directed by Mark. L. Lester. The story revolves around drug dealing and corruption at the army base, Fort Tillman. After an officer has been killed, the Pentagon sends Major John Murphy (Mark Dacascos), an army intelligence officer, to solve the case. He is to work undercover and gain the trust of soldiers to gather information about the crime. Murphy starts investigating Sergeant Mike Gammon (Tim Abell), who feels he is unappreciated by the government and starts dealing cocaine. He is killing the drug carriers along the Mexican border and his crew is distributing the stolen drugs in Los Angeles for big money. As the number of dead people begins to rise, Major Murphy infiltrates in the inner circle of Sergeant Gammon to find out who is in charge of the operations. Soon he discovers that the trails of this illegal activity lead to much higher ranks than he expected.
