The Battle of Midway is an Academy Award winning documentary narrated by Henry Fonda that showcases some of the most harrowing and heart-stopping action during the United States' entrance to war. Director John Ford's attempt to bring the American people to the heart of the war with Japan and solidify the patriotic emotions felt by all is a spectacular piece of cinematic history that will forever live on. Risking life and limb, John Ford filmed the events by climbing high upon a power plant and was consequently struck and injured by a piece of flying shrapnel. His heroic actions brought to light the American involvement during the attempted takeover of Midway Island by the Japanese military, and the eventual defeat at the hands of the US Navy. This film will surely be proudly treasured by all of those who served in the military during those times, or those who wish to relive some of the United States' most trying times.
