"The Beyond" is a 1981 Italian horror movie directed by Lucio Fulci. A young woman named Liza Merril (Catriona MacColl) has inherited the Seven Doors Hotel, an old hotel built in 1927 in New Orleans, Louisiana from her grandfather. Liza has arrived with the intention of renovating the hotel in hopes of making business off of it. She will soon realize, however, that there is more to the hotel than she knows. A macabre back story reveals that this hotel was the scene of a vicious murder performed decades earlier on an artist who was lynched and savagely murdered because of the rumors of his warlock. The hotel has since served as one of the seven portals to Hell. Liza and her friend Dr. John McCabe (David Warbeck) have unknowingly placed themselves in the midst of an entrance to Hell and soon find themselves victims of the nightmarish occurrences that take place in the hotel. Will they escape successfully, or will they fade into oblivion like many souls before them?moreless
