The Big Empty is a mystery crime drama that takes a private eye on a roller-coaster ride while trying to solve his first case. Waiter Lloyd Matthews (James McManus) sees his childhood friend Scott (Lee Holmes) in a shop window, all grown up and stocking shelves. Lloyd flashes back remembering him and Scott talking about their dreams, and just when he enters the store to talk to him, Scott drops dead from a heart attack. Lloyd decides that he doesn't want the same fate. He quits his job and decides to become a private investigator even though he has no formal training. His first client, eccentric Jane (Ellen Goldwasser), contracts him to find out if her husband Peter (Pablo Bryant) is having an affair. The rookie PI sets off to solve the case but he mistakenly get too involved with his clients. He befriends Peter and takes an interest in Jane, who likes Lloyd too. The PI sees Peter enter a motel with a strange girl and reports to Jane that he's having an affair. Jane loses it, and Lloyd tries to calm her down just as Peter walks in catching them in an awkward position. When Jane confronts Peter, Lloyd finds out that this new profession is not as easy as it seems.moreless
