The Big Street is a comedy-drama written by Damon Runyon that features Gloria Lyons (Lucille Ball) as a popular nightclub star. Gloria is the girlfriend of a tough, big-time mobster named Case Ables (Barton Maclaine). As she glows in the attention of her many admirers, Gloria can't help but try to please the little people of the world. She's even gained the admiration of the club's busboy, Agustus "Little Pink" Pinkerton (Henry Fonda) who would travel to the end of the earth for her. When Gloria becomes crippled as a result of a slap from Case, Pinky comes to her rescue and tries to nurse the fallen star back to health. Through insults and selfish tantrums, Little Pink stays loyal to Gloria who shows no signs of returning his affections. When Gloria decides she doesn't like the cold of the New York winter, Little Pink pushes her to Florida in her wheelchair so she can try to attract the attention of a billionaire. Watch The Big Street for a movie with a fine cast of characters and a story that will warm your heart.moreless
