The film takes place in 1957 and follows J.C. Cullen (Dillon), whose new life in Chicago is a gamble in more ways than one. As he seeks his fortune under the neon lights he develops two steamy relationships that drag him into a mess of trouble. Before long, counting chips is no longer Cullen's chief concern as he gets more and more wrapped up in the drama of his lovers. Tommy Lee Jones plays strip club owner George Cole, whose personal troubles could mean curtains for Cullen. This film is directed by Ben Bolt and Harold Becker, and the screenplay was written by Clark Howard and Robert Roy Pool.
