The Black Dakotas is a western from 1954 directed by Ray Nazzaro. In order to pacify the Sioux Indian tribe, President Abraham Lincoln sends off an eight page treaty with a courier to the Sioux Indian Chief War Cloud (John War Eagle) because he needs more soldiers to fight in the Civil War instead of patrol the Indian tribes. Lincoln also makes an offering of $130,000 in gold to help pacify the tribe. The courier, Zachary Paige sets off to deliver the treaty, but gets kidnapped and murdered by Brock Marsh (Gary Merrill), a Confederate spy who wants the gold for Jefferson Davis' treasury. Marsh plans to impersonate Paige and intercept the gold when arrives in town. "Gimpy" Joe Woods (Noah Beery, Jr.) knows that the Confederates are intruding in the peace efforts of the Indians. He tries to put a stop to their sabotage and make amends with War Cloud to try and restore peace with the Sioux Indians.
