The Black Knight is a 1954 film written by Alec Coppel and directed by Tay Garnett. The film centers around swordsmith and blacksmith John (Alan Ladd). John is a commoner who wants to get the attention of Lady Linet (Patricia Medina), the daughter of the Earl of Yeoniland (Harry Andrews). Knowing that as a commoner, he cannot bear knightly arms, John decides to create a secret identity. He makes a winged chicken helmet and suit of armor and becomes The Black Knight. As The Black Knight, he fights alongside King Arthur (Anthony Bushell) to defeat Saracens and Cornish men dressed as Vikings. When Lady Linet becomes threatened, John makes it his mission to protect her. John soon realizes evil is everywhere around him. Other characters in The Black Knight include: Sir Ontzlake (Andre Morrel), Sir Palamides (Peter Cushing) and Queen Guinevere (Jean Lodge). The Black Knight is thought of as an all time classic film.
