The Black Swan is a 1942 Twentieth Century Fox swashbuckler co-written by Ben Hecht (His Girl Friday, Notorious, Spellbound, Wuthering Heights). Legendary Tyrone Power (The Mark of Zorro) plays pirate Jamie-Boy Waring, who is recruited by ex-pirate Captain Morgan (Laird Cregar, Heaven Can Wait, This Gun For Hire, Hangover Square), who is now Governor of Jamaica. Jamie is ordered to rid the seas of the rest of the pirates out there. However, ships bound for Jamaica carrying gold continue to be attacked, and people are blaming Morgan and Jamie. There's a leak in the government giving the pirates the routes of the ships called into service by a former pirate associate of his, Captain Morgan. Jamie by now is in love with the daughter (Maureen O'Hara, The Quiet Man, How Green Was My Valley, Miracle on 34th Street) of the former governor, and to keep her from marrying the next day, he kidnaps her and brings her on one of the pirate missions.moreless
