The Blazing Sun is a Western adventure directed by John English that centers on Gene Autry (Gene Autry), a lawman out for justice who is hot on the trail of two bank robbers, Al Bartlett (Kenne Duncan) and Trot Lucas (Gregg Barton). When Al decides to take Trot out of the equation, he kills his near identical twin brother Mark (also played by Kenne Duncan) in order to fake his own death. Doubting Al's death, Gene saves a young woman, Kitty (Anne Gwynne), from gaining the wrath of the townsfolk as she claims to have been the thief's widow. However, she really is a victim of Bartlett's crimes and is out for revenge. Bartlett however has taken up the offer of a crooked doctor, Larry Taylor (Edward Norris), to perform plastic surgery in order to get him back into town. With his return to town, Autry and Kitty rush to capture Bartlett before he becomes unrecognizable.
