The Blocked Trail

Movie Summary

Elmer Clifton

1943

The Blocked Trail is a Wild West caper with a sense of humor. It features the Three Mesquiteers, a tough, lovable, and funny trio seeking adventure along the western trails. The three men find themselves wrongly accused of killing "Mad" Martin (Walter Soderling) and have to break out of jail to bring the real killers to justice if they can. Martin was in fact shot by a group of evildoers out to steal his gold mine. The true hero of the film is a three-foot tall horse named Brilliant. Brilliant, a 'seeing eye horse' for the blind Martin, is the only one that knows how to find the gold mine. The small horse escapes and prompts pursuit by all sides since it is carrying evidence of the killers. The daring horse-riding stunts add plenty of excitement to the chase scenes throughout the movie. This is an entertaining western with multiple plot twists and several quirky characters.
