The Book Of Caleb is an indie 2008 comedy about reaching a "quarter life crisis." Although he is just a few credits shy of graduating, Caleb Callahan (Jeremy Luno) drops out of college and returns to his parents' suburban home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Confused about the direction of his life, he reconnects with his childhood friends Montag (Michael Hampton) and Swank (Nikitas Manikatos), who also have no interest in entering the stress of adulthood. The three friends return to their life of underachievement and pranks as a stand against the ordinary, and target their high school nemesis, Officer Scar (Jeff Berg). His girlfriend, Cole (Mackenzie Firgens) helps to keep Caleb from completely devolving into adolescence. Then, one of their high-concept pranks against real estate mogul James Paddington (Paul Gleason) may push their luck too far. First-time writer and director Matthew von Manahan captures the slacker resistance to the dubious adult world with humor and originality.
